Wide source, vertical output.
Every clip renders vertical at 9:16, 1080 x 1920 or 720 x 1280. You pick one of two framings before the run: pad the frame with a blurred copy of itself so nothing is cut off, or crop to the centre and fill the frame.
What is reframing a video to 9:16?
Reframing turns a wide landscape frame into the vertical 9:16 shape short-form feeds expect. cutspool does it two ways: blurred pad scales the whole frame to the full width and fills the space above and below with a blurred copy of it, so nothing is cut off; fill-frame scales up and crops in, with a horizontal position you can slide. Whichever you pick holds for the entire clip - the crop is fixed, it does not track a speaker or move mid-clip.

What the framing decides
Blurred pad
The source is scaled to the full width and the space above and below is filled with a blurred copy of it. Nothing is cut off, and this is the default.
Fill frame
The source is scaled up until it covers the frame, and the sides are cut off.
One position
Whichever you pick holds for the whole clip. The frame does not move while it plays.
No tracking
There is no face or speaker tracking. A speaker away from the centre can fall outside a fill-frame crop.
Brand overlay
Your handle is drawn under the captions and your logo above centre, in the same pass.

How it works
Pick a framing before the run
Blurred pad is the default. Fill-frame is the alternative, and the choice applies to every clip in the run.
Blurred pad keeps the whole frame
The source is scaled to fit inside the vertical frame and the space above and below is filled with a blurred, enlarged copy of the same frame. Nothing is cropped away.


Fill-frame crops to the centre
The source is scaled up until it covers the vertical frame and the sides are cut off. Anything outside the centre of the frame is lost.
Render the vertical frame
The clip is encoded as H.264 video with AAC audio in an MP4 container, at 1080 x 1920 or 720 x 1280.
Burn in captions and brand
Captions, your handle and your logo are drawn in the same encode pass as the reframe.

- The crop is static. There is no speaker or face tracking, and the frame does not move during a clip.
- One output ratio: 9:16, at 1080 x 1920 or 720 x 1280. There is no 1:1 or 16:9 export.
- A source without enough resolution to crop to vertical will show it.
